Worcester Sharks News Release
WORCESTER, MA - Worcester Sharks president Michael A. Mudd announced today that the Worcester Sharks and the snowiest US city, the City of Worcester, will host a "SNOW POLL" when the Sharks host the Hershey Bears on Sunday, March 24 at 3pm at the DCU Center.
As of the first day of spring, Worcester was the snowiest city in the United States for the winter of 2012-2013, according to the National Weather Service with 108.9 inches of snow. Even storm chaser Jim Cantore from The Weather Channel paid Worcester a visit on March 8 and 9 for Winter Storm Saturn!
With the possibility of more snow on the way early next week, the Worcester Sharks and the City of Worcester will host a special "SNOW POLL" on March 24 to see whether or not residents of Worcester and Sharks fans want more snow this record breaking winter season.
In addition, the first 109 fans (because we have had 109 inches of snow....so far!) will receive a free ruler (to measure any more snow) and three lucky fans will receive a team signed yard stick.
"You always see residents of Worcester get interviewed on the news and they say they love the snow and want more," said Mudd. "We will find out for sure with the "SNOW POLL" on March 24."
Polls for the "SNOW POLL" will be open from 1-3:15pm inside the DCU Center Lobby with official voting booths. All ages are welcomed to vote and you do not need a Sharks ticket to vote. Worcester natives and Worcester Sharks fans are invited to VOTE on Question 1 on this special ballot.
Question 1: Do you want the City of Worcester, MA to receive more snow this season?
- NO... we want spring... bring on the warm weather!
- YES... more snow the better... let's go for the record!
The Worcester Sharks will tabulate the votes and announce the official SNOW VOTE results during the 2nd intermission when the Sharks host the Hershey Bears at 3pm. The results will be sent Next Day Air directly to Mother Nature.
