Bruins Fall to Sharks
March 23, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
Worcester, MA -- The Providence Bruins fell to the Worcester Sharks 5-3 this evening at the DCU Center. Jamie Tardif, Carter Camper and Torey Krug scored for the Bruins. Michael Hutchinson posted 15 saves in his first loss in three games.
In their twelfth and final meeting of the 2012-13 regular season, the Bruins and Sharks came out flying. The Sharks had lost the last five contests to the Bruins in the season series. Worcester struck first in the fast paced game, when Freddie Hamilton beat Hutchinson for his ninth goal of the season. It looked like the Sharks were headed into the first intermission with a lead, however Tardif snapped his four game pointless streak with a goal at 19:17. Kevan Miller and Kyle MacKinnon assisted on the goal to send the teams into the first intermission tied 1-1.
Worcester struck early in the second period to regain the lead. The Sharks added another goal at 10:57 to take a 3-1 lead over the Bruins. Again, determined not to go into the intermission without a fight, the Bruins pulled out two quick goals in the final four minutes to the frame to tie it up 3-3. Camper scored at 16:04 and Krug added the tying goal on the power play at 19:48.
It was all Providence for much of the third frame as Bruins out shot the Sharks 11-6. However, they could not beat Harri Sateri to take the lead. Instead at 15:04 the Sharks' Stalberg broke through Hutchinson on the power play to take a 4-3 lead. That goal proved to be the momentum changer as the Sharks added another goal to solidify their win at 18:39. Danny Urban's goal sealed the 5-3 win for the Sharks, the last in the season series between the two teams.
The Bruins return to The Dunk on Friday, April 12 versus the Hershey Bears. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. for Kids T-Shirt Night. The first 2,000 kids 12&under will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Graphic Ink.
