Rampage Goaltender Justin Pogge Named Reebok/AHL Player Of The Week

SAN ANTONIO (February 15, 2010) - The American Hockey League announced today that San Antonio Rampage goaltender Justin Pogge has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 14, 2010. Pogge made three consecutive starts over the weekend and won them all, stopping 97 of 100 shots faced.

With the Rampage in the midst of a 14-game, 29-day road trip, Pogge began the week with a 27-save performance in San Antonio's 3-1 win at Peoria on Friday night. In a rematch with the Rivermen on Saturday, Pogge made 43 saves on 44 shots while also recording his third assist of the season to lead the Rampage to a 2-1 victory. And on Sunday, Pogge turned aside 27 shots as San Antonio edged Milwaukee, 2-1.

In recognition of his achievement, Pogge will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Rampage home game.

Pogge has made 18 appearances for San Antonio this season, posting a record of 10-5-3 with a 2.24 goals-against average and a.931 save percentage. A 23-year-old native of Fort McMurray, Alta., Pogge spent his first three pro seasons with the Toronto Marlies, and is now 81-61-14 with seven shutouts in 142 career AHL contests. Pogge was a third-round draft choice by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2004, and was acquired by the Anaheim Ducks via trade on Aug. 10, 2009.

The Rampage continue their Rodeo road trip this Wednesday with a matchup against the Wolves at 7 p.m. at Allstate Arena. Over the weekend, San Antonio picked up three consecutive wins and are now 6-1-0-2 (14 points) through nine games on their 14-game road trip.
