Ads Play Just Twice this Week, Both at Home

OVERALL...The Admirals enter tonight's action with a 30-20-1-5 record, good for 66 points and third place in the AHL's West Division. With the top four teams in the division separated by five points the standings in the West change on a daily basis. Currently Chicago holds down the top spot with 70 points, followed by Rockford in second with 67, then the Ads, and fourth place Texas (65 pts). The Admirals have a light week on the schedule front, with just two home games. Milwaukee will host Houston on Friday night at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center and then Rockford comes to town for 4:00 pm matinee on Sunday afternoon.

OLYMPIC BREAK MOVES...With the NHL on Olympic break right now, the Predators have reassigned Colin Wilson and Alexander Sulzer to the Admirals. Wilson posted two points in four games during his second NHL stint which started Feb. 9, scoring his first ever game-winning goal against the New York Rangers on Tuesday night. He played a career-high 18:06 in Sunday's 4-3 shootout victory over the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins to finish off the Predators pre-Olympic break schedule. In 14 games this season, the seventh overall pick in the 2008 Entry Draft has four points (2g-2a). He heads back to Milwaukee where he has 24 points (9g-15a) in his last 17 AHL outings. Sulzer has a pair of assists in 18 games for the Predators in 2009-10, and suited up for all six of Nashville's games during his most recent recall (Feb. 4-14). He will not be heading to Milwaukee, but rather to Vancouver to represent Germany in the 2010 Olympics, his second appearance in the Winter Games. The 6-1, 204-pound blueliner also has 19 points (4g-15a) in 19 games at the AHL level this season.

BACK ON THE BOARD...Admirals winger Ryan Maki got back on the board with the team's lone goal on Sunday afternoon in their 2-1 loss to San Antonio. The marker was the third of the season for Maki, and his first since lighting the lamp on January 10th in Peoria. On the season the Harvard grad, who missed almost six weeks with a lower-body injury, has nine points (3g-6a) and +2 rating in 40 games with the Ads.

I'LL HAVE TWO PLEASE...Forward Chris Mueller tallied a pair of goals for the Ads Saturday night, his first red-lighters since January 16 at Manitoba when he posted a pair of goals as well. Besides Mike Santorelli, Meuller is the only Admiral to pick up two goals in a game on more than one occasion this season. Signed by the Admirals at the end of October, the Buffalo, NY native has 22 points on ten goals and 12 assists in 43 games this year and is tied for second on the squad with a +12 rating.

WELCOME BACK...In addition, Nashville has also reassigned Admirals Captain Nolan Yonkman back to the team. Yonkman missed his first games of the season when he was recalled by the Preds on Tuesday due to the imminent birth of Dan Hamhuis' second child. It was the first trip to the NHL for the Punnichy, SK native since 2006 when he played for the Washington Capitals. The only Admiral to captain the team for two consecutive seasons since they joined the AHL in 2001, Yonkman is second on the team with 112 penalty minutes this year, in addition to posting nine points (2g-7a), in 53 games.

IT'S A GOOD YEAR...The New Year has been good to Admirals forward Hugh Jessiman. The New York native entered 2010 with nine points (6g-3a), but in 23 games since then he has totaled eight goals and eight assists, including a goal and an assist Friday night, and has moved into second place on the team in goals with 14 and is tied for fifth in points with 25 (14g-11a). Jessiman has averaged almost a point per game in his last 15 games, accumulating 14 points in that span, and is now just three points shy of surpassing his point total from last season.

HOME, SWEET HOME...The Admirals kicked off another five-game homestand Sunday, which is tied for their longest of the season. Milwaukee has played the second-fewest number of home games (24) in the AHL thus far, but they will make up for that over the next month as the Ads have ten of their next 12 games on home ice. On their first five-game homestand from January 28 to February 5, the Admirals tallied a 3-2 record and overall they are 13-8-0-2 at the Bradley Center this season.

DUBIOUS DISTINCTION...Milwaukee tied an AHL franchise record for fewest shots on goal in a game when they mustered just 15 on Wednesday night. It also tied the overall franchise mark for fewest shots in a game when the team was shutout. The only other time the Ads had been blanked and managed just 15 shots was back on January 29, 2002 when they lost 4-0 to Grand Rapids. The one shot the Admirals posted in the second period also tied a team record for fewest shots in a period.

OVER THE AIR AND ON THE WEB...For the third consecutive season Sportsradio 1250 WSSP will serve as the Admirals flagship station with Aaron Sims calling all of the hard-hitting end-to-end action.
