San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (November 28, 2010)- The San Antonio Rampage scored three times in the second period but couldn't hang on dropping a 5-3 decision to the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday afternoon at the AT&T Center. The Rampage own a 15-6-1-0 record and continue to lead the West Division and Western Conference standings with 31 points.
Rampage right wing Petr Prucha recorded his first goal in a Rampage jersey and added an assist on the night in his second game with San Antonio. Matt Watkins tallied his first goal of the season while Matt Beaudoin extended his point streak to four games with his 11th goal of the season.
After going 0-for-35 on the power play in their last nine games, the Admirals scored two power-play goals in the first period. Just nine seconds into their first power-play opportunity, Admirals right wing Chris Mueller punched in a rebound goal off Linus Klasen's shot at the 15:54 mark to put Milwaukee up 1-0. Center Steve Begin followed suit beating Rampage goaltender Al Montoya high stick side from the slot at the 18:38 mark giving the Admirals a 2-0 advantage at the end of the opening frame.
San Antonio cut the deficit in half, 2-1, when Prucha deflected the puck off a centering pass from Bracken Kearns at the 4:14 mark in the second period that beat Milwaukee netminder Jeremy Smith high glove side.
The Rampage evened the score at the 7:08 mark of the middle stanza when Watkins scored on a centering feed from Prucha that went high glove side past Smith.
San Antonio leading scorer Matt Beaudoin punched in a rebound goal that went top shelf to provide the Rampage with the lead, 3-2, with 1:38 remaining in the second frame. Michael Stone and Oliver Ekman-Larsson provided the assists.
Despite the Rampage's second period rally, Milwaukee responded with three unanswered goals in the third period to claim the victory, 5-3. Admirals left wing Gabriel Bourque was able to get a shot off reaching for the puck from the left faceoff circle that hit just inside the right post to even the score, 3-3, at the 11:40 mark of the third period.
Milwaukee regained control of the lead 16:55 into the third period with the Admirals third power-play goal of the night off the stick of Klasen from the left post.
With 1:13 remaining in the contest, Rampage head coach Ray Edwards pulled Montoya in favor of a sixth skater. The Admirals took advantage of the opportunity as left wing Kelsey Wilson scored on the empty net sealing the victory at 5-3.
The Rampage hit the road this Friday kicking off a three-in-three series with their first stop against the Stars at 7:30 p.m. at Cedar Park Center. They travel to Michigan on Saturday and Sunday for back-to-back games against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
