Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Syracuse, NY - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Syracuse Crunch 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs had 45 shots on net but were only able to beat Timo Pielmeier twice as the goaltender made 43 saves to win the game for Syracuse. The loss snapped a three-game win streak and six-game point streak that the 'Dogs were on.
The Crunch opened the game's scoring at 11:28 of the first frame with a power-play marker. Matt Beleskey received the puck from Trevor Smith while positioned in the right corner. Beleskey faked a pass before firing a shot on net that beat Hamilton starting goaltender Robert Mayer through the legs.
Syracuse took a 2-0 lead at 10:30 of the second stanza while on the power play. Mark Mitera sent a pass to Josh Green, who carried the puck into the Bulldogs zone. Green snapped a shot from the right faceoff circle that beat Mayer low on the blocker side.
The 'Dogs made the game 2-1 at 14:43 of the middle frame. Max Pacioretty fired a shot on net that was stopped by Syracuse starting goaltender Timo Pielmeier. The goaltender could not control the rebound, which David Desharnais grabbed and backhanded into the net. Pacioretty tied the game 2-2 at 16:40 while on a 5-on-3 power play. Desharnais received the puck from Frederic St. Denis before centering a pass to Max Pacioretty, who tapped the puck past Pielmeier.
The Crunch regained the lead at 12:11 of the final frame with a power-play goal. Smith passed the puck to Beleskey, who released a shot towards the net. Joffrey Lupul proceeded to whack the loose puck past Mayer and into the net.
The 'Dogs return to Copps Coliseum for a game on Wednesday, December 1st at 7:00 p.m. against the Abbotsford Heat. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
