Admirals End Road Trip with Win Over Rampage

San Antonio, TX--Chris Mueller and Linus Klasen both scored a goal and an assist to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 5-3 win over West Division leading San Antonio Sunday at the AT&T Center.

Milwaukee finished the ten-game trip with a 5-3-0-2 mark. The team has recorded points in three straight games (2-0-0-1) after a season-high four game winless streak (0-3-0-1).

Goalie Jeremy Smith, making his third start of the season, earned his second AHL win with 33 saves.

The Admirals trailed 3-2 after the second period but tied the score at 11:40 of the third period. Gabriel Bourque received a long pass from Brett Palin in the middle of the San Antonio blue line. He streaked past defenseman Chris Summers before firing a wrist shot low past Rampage netminder Al Montoya for his second goal of the season. Palin and Roman Josi recorded the assists.

Klasen scored the winner with a power play goal, Milwaukee's third of the game, with 3:05 to play. Jon Blum's shot from the point bounced off Montoya's chest and Klasen, with just one hand on the stick, shoved the puck into the net for his team-high tenth goal of the year and sixth on the power play. Blum and Aaron Johnson notched the helpers.

The Rampage scored three times in the second period to erase a two-goal deficit. Petr Prucha scored at 4:14 to put the Rampage on the board. Prucha then fed a beautiful pass through the slot to Matt Watkins for a Watkins goal at 7:08. San Antonio took the lead when Mathieu Beaudoin jammed in a rebound at 18:22. Beaudoin's goal was scored with one second left on a Rampage power play.

Milwaukee got on the board first with the team's first power play goal since Nov. 7. Standing on the left post, Mueller banged a rebound of a Klasen shot past Montoya for his eighth goal of the season, first on the power play,at 15:54 of the first period. Klasen, who shot the puck from the left faceoff dot, recorded an assist as did defenseman Aaron Johnson. The power play goal snapped a 0-32 stretch on the power play for the Admirals which spanned the first nine games of the trip.

The Admirals scored its second power play goal of the game at 18:38 when Steve Begin lifted a backhander from the slot over Montoya's right shoulder. Blum recorded the lone assist. It was Begin's third goal of the season and first on the power play.

Kelsey Wilson added an empty-net, short-handed goal with 13 seconds remaining to ice the win.
