Allen, TX - David Makowski scored with just over a minute to go in regulation and helped Allen (36-20-3-2) get past Wichita (14-35-6-6) on Sunday afternoon by the final of 3-2 at the Allen Event Center. Ian Lowe tied the game with 1:43 remaining, but Makowski scored just 29 seconds later and the Americans held on for the win. Allen wins the regular season series, with Wichita going 0-10-2-1 overall.

Kale Kerbashian and Ian Lowe provided offense for the Thunder in the losing effort.

Tristan King didn't waste any time, scoring a minute into the first period to make it 1-0. Reid Halabi increased the lead to 2-0 at 10:04 as he jumped on a rebound in the slot for his first tally of the season.

Kerbashian cut the lead to one at 7:40 of the second. He missed an open net just to the left of James Murray, but stayed with the play and fired a wrist shot from the right circle to make it 2-1. Wichita outshot the Americans 16-6 in the second frame.

In the third, Wichita pulled David Shantz for the extra attacker and it paid off. Ian Lowe pounced on a rebound with 1:43 remaining in regulation and tied the game at two. However, Makowski stepped up into the play and buried a wrist shot past Shantz that gave the Americans a 3-2 advantage. The Thunder had one last chance with an offensive zone draw with 4.8 seconds left. Kerbashian got the puck off the draw and fired a wrist shot that Murray got a piece of and Allen held on for the win.

Kerbashian finished with a goal and an assist and has 11 points (5g, 6a) against his former team. Miles Koules potted two assists, giving him four assists in two games and back-to-back multi-helper outings. Shantz takes the loss, stopping 20 of 23 shots. Murray, in his first professional start, earns the win with 40 saves on 42 shots.

Wichita was 0-for-4 on the man advantage. Allen went 0-for-3 on the power play.
