Indy Fuel News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel wrap the weekend with a big 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones at Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Sunday afternoon and keep its playoff hopes alive.

Keegan Asmundson continued his solid play against the Cyclones this season, allowing only one goal on 35 shots against to earn the win.

Peter Schneider opened the scoring for the Fuel at 10:57 of the first period when he tipped in a Ben Mattson pass while cutting in front of Cyclones goaltender Andy Iles (29 saves).

In the second, Alex Lavoie doubled the lead for the Fuel when he put home the rebound of Schneider's shot at 7:34 while camped to the right of Iles. The puck ricocheted right to Lavoie's stick and he quickly put the puck into the upper part of the cage for what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Asmundson would help hold the fort along with a solid defensive effort in front of him, ceding only Peter Quennville's late goal with 3:25 remaining in the third period. Despite a late push with Iles on the bench for an extra attacker plus a power play advantage, the Cyclones were unable to find the tying goal and Indy ends up with the win.

This week the Fuel will host the Toledo Walleye on St. Patrick's Day at 7:05 pm and the Brampton Beast at 7:35 pm on Saturday night. The Morellis Cleaners Indy Fuel pregame show starts 15 minutes prior to puck drop for the webcast on CBSSports1430.com and via the TuneIn Radio app.
