Monarchs Announce Roster Moves

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that the Monarchs have signed defenseman, Nicholas Kuqali, and have released defenseman, Steve Brown.

Kuqali, 30, played in nine games for the Adirondack Thunder this season, scoring two points on two assists. In his career, Kuqali has played in 53 ECHL games, scoring nine points on nine assists between the Thunder, Orlando Solar Bears, South Carolina Stingrays and Wheeling Nailers.

The 6-foot-3, 202-pound native of Dallas, Texas played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, seeing the ice for 104 games over his four years on campus. In his time at Wisconsin, Kuqali scored 18 points on four goals and 14 assists.

Brown, 27, played in one game for the Monarchs without recording a point. Before coming to Manchester, Brown played in 31 games for the Danbury Titans (FHL) this season, scoring 13 points on three goals and 10 assists, while recording 82 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound native of Spring Lake, N.C. played two career games in the ECHL for the Elmira Jackals, recording one assist, before signing with Manchester. In his career, Brown has played in 164 FHL games, scoring 60 points on 12 goals and 48 assists, while logging 207 penalty minutes.

Kuqali and the Monarchs are back in action this afternoon (3 p.m.), when they take on the Reading Royals from the Verizon Wireless Arena.
