Tacoma Rainiers News Release

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Tacoma Rainiers posted a seven-run inning in the ninth on the way to rallying past the Las Vegas 51s 13-12 at Cashman Field on Thursday night.

Tacoma trailed 10-6 through eight innings before posting a season-high seven runs in the game's final frame. Mike Zunino, Stefen Romero and Leury Bonilla each drew bases-loaded walks to bring the Rainiers within two. Denny Almonte plated the tying run with a one-out single, and Romero scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch thrown by 51s closer Armando Rodriguez.

Nate Tenbrink upped the Rainiers lead to 12-10 with a sacrifice fly that plated Bonilla, and infielder Nick Franklin rounded out the inning with a run-scoring single that drove in the outfielder Almonte.

Tacoma tallied a combined 14 in hits in the come-from-behind effort. Franklin led the way after going 5-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBI, tying Carlos Triunfel for the most hits collected by a Rainiers player in a single game this season.

The outfielder Romero recorded his first Triple-A home run in his fifth game with the Rainiers this season after hitting a solo shot in the top of the sixth inning. He ended the night driving in two runs and scoring two runs.

Reliever Bobby LaFromboise (1-0) picked up the win, holding the 51s to one unearned in the eighth inning. Right-hander Logan Bawcom allowed two unearned runs in the bottom of the ninth en route to collecting his second save over his last two appearances.

Starter Andrew Kittredge allowed seven runs on seven hits over 3.0 innings in a spot start after left-hander Danny Hultzen was scratched due to trouble loosening up.

The Rainiers (11-10) look to stretch their winning streak to three games in the second game of the club's four-game set at Las Vegas (10-9) tomorrow, April 26. Right-hander Andrew Carraway (2-1, 4.43) is slated to start for Tacoma against right-hander Carlos Torres (0-1, 4.61) for the 51s. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
