Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev. - The Aces held several leads, but ultimately fell 9-8 to the Fresno Grizzlies on Friday night at Aces Ballpark.
Reno jumped on the board early, posting two runs in the bottom of the first, including a solo homer off the bat of Kila Ka'aihue. The homer marked Ka'aihue's first at Aces Ballpark this season, and fifth overall.
The Aces continued to battle for control the rest of the night. The game saw several lead changes, with at least one run put on the board every frame except the ninth.
The clubs were tangled at eighth going into the eighth inning, when Fresno plated a run to take a 9-8 lead. Fresno reliever Heath Hembree was able to silence the Aces in order in the ninth to end the game.
Reno's Tony Campana and Matt Davidson each collected two hits and an RBI on the night.
Grizzlies infielder Kensuke Tanaka went 4-for-5 at the plate, with two RBI and two runs scored. He fell just a home run short of the cycle.
Reliever Evan Marshall was charged with the loss. He gave up one earned run on two hits, while striking out two. RHP Matt Gorgen, who came on in relief of Delgado was charged with a blown save, giving up three runs on three hits without recording an out.
Reliever Mitch Lively earned the win for Fresno. He threw 22.0 innings, giving up three runs on four hits. Hembree was credited with his sixth save of the season.
The series continues Saturday night at Aces Ballpark. RHP Chase Anderson (1-2, 5.06 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Fresno will counter with RHP Shane Loux (0-1, 4.15 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. PT, and 2,000 lucky fans will receive a fleece blanket giveaway.
