
Zephyrs Defeat OKC in 15 Innings

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - Kevin Mattison lined a triple into right field to score a pair of runs to break a tie game in the 15th inning to give the Zephyrs a 10-8 lead. New Orleans held on to win the game over the Redhawks in the first game of the series. The Zephyrs have improved to 10-9 and have won their third consecutive game.
The Zephyrs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Ben Lasaster RBI singled followed by a Matt Diaz three run home run.
Brad Hand pitched six scoreless innings allowing four hits and six strike outs. The Zephyrs scored a run in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 6-0.
Oklahoma City would rally; a run in the seventh inning followed by a 5 run ninth inning to tie the game.
Matt Downs hammered a two run home run for the Zephyrs in the 13th inning to give New Orleans an 8-6 lead. The Redhawks managed to score a pair of runs to tie the contest.
In the fifteenth inning Jake Jefferies singled and with two outs Gorkys Hernandez singled. Mattison delivered with a triple inside the first base line and the Zephyrs scored a pair of runs to take the lead.
Dan Jennings pitched 2.1 innings to earn the win and Lance Day took the loss for OKC.
Game Notes - The Z's pitchers had worked 15 consecutive scoreless innings, it was snapped in the seventh inning. The Zephyrs activated catcher Jake Jefferies from the disabled list and assigned Taylor Krick to Class AA Jacksonville.
