Rainiers Knock Off Nashville, 5-4

TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers winning streak stretched to five games after edging the Nashville Sounds 5-4 at Cheney Stadium on Wednesday night.

Tacoma trailed 1-0 before Franklin Gutierrez drove in the game-tying run in the fifth inning. The outfielder tallied the third RBI of his Major League rehab assignment with the Rainiers after plating Carlos Triunfel with a two-out single.

Catcher Jesus Sucre put Tacoma on top with a two-run double in the sixth, kicking off what turned into a four-run frame for the Rainiers. Outfielder Abraham Almonte chipped in an RBI double, and Nick Franklin drove in another run with a sacrifice fly.

Sucre ended the night going 3-for-4 to lead a Tacoma lineup that combined to collect 10 hits on Wednesday. The infielder Franklin went 2-for-4 after collecting a pair of singles.

Starter Andrew Carraway (5-1) earned his fifth win in his team-leading tenth turn in the Rainiers rotation after holding the Sounds to one run on five hits over 6.2 innings. The right-hander tied a season-high after striking out six batters and issuing two walks.

Reliever Bobby LaFromboise collected his second save of the season after tossing 1.2 scoreless innings over the eighth and ninth.

The Rainiers (29-18) look to secure a series sweep when they host the final game of the team's four-game series with the Sounds (12-32) at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow, May 23rd. Right-hander Jeremy Bonderman (2-3, 3.79) is scheduled to start for Tacoma against Nashville left-hander Zach Kroenke (1-6, 5.75).
