Iowa Cubs News Release

Des Moines, IA - RH Eduardo Sanchez joins the Iowa Cubs today. The Chicago Cubs claimed him off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. Sanchez fills the open spot in Iowa's bullpen after Chicago recalled RH Rafael Dolis yesterday after placing Shawn Camp on the disabled list.

Sanchez has been pitching with Memphis this season. In nine games with the Redbirds this year, he had no record, one save, and a 3.72 ERA (4ER/9.2IP). He is 5-4 with a 3.15 ERA (33ER/94.1IP) and 18 saves in 91 games with Memphis over the last three seasons and is 3-2 with a 3.40 ERA (17ER/45.0IP) and five saves in 43 games with the Cardinals from 2011-2012. The Cardinals signed Sanchez as a non-drafted free agent in December, 2005 out of Venezuela.

This is the third time Dolis has been called up to Chicago this year, but his first two stints lasted just two days each. Dolis is 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA (7ER/11.2IP) and one save in 12 games with Iowa this year.

The Cubs wrap up this series against the Las Vegas 51s this afternoon at 12:05. LH Chris Rusin (2-4, 4.33) is scheduled to pitch for the Cubs against RH Matt Fox (1-0, 5.40) for the 51s. The gates will open at 10:35 am and the game will be broadcast live on AM 940 and streamed live at iowacubs.com with the On-Deck Circle Pre-Game Show starting at 11:45.
