Cleburne Railroaders News Release
CLEBURNE, Texas - Cam Monger went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBI, and Patrick Mincey earned his third consecutive win in Cleburne's 8-3 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs at The Depot on Saturday night.
Monger hit a two-out, two-run double to give Cleburne a 3-1 lead in the 1st inning, and added insurance with his 11th homer of the year - a two-run shot - in the 7th inning.
Cleburne knocked 16 hits after combining for just nine total hits through the first two games of the series, and Patrick Mincey turned in a season-high eight innings for his seventh quality start of the year. Mincey gave up two runs on 11 hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Cleburne fell behind by a run on Brandon Jacobs's 20th homer of the year in the 1st inning, but Patrick Palmeiro tied the game with an RBI single before Monger's two-run double. Mike Gulino later singled in another run in the frame.
The Saltdogs got a run back on Christian Ibarra's solo shot in the 2nd - his second homer in as many nights - but the Railroaders scored another run on a wild pitch before Gulino's sacrifice fly in the 3rd.
Cleburne pegged Lincoln spot-starter Jose Jose - making his first start of 2018 - for six runs on 10 hits with no walks and two strikeouts over three innings. Former Railroader Cortland Cox appeared for the second time in as many nights and gave up two runs on five hits over four innings.
Levi Scott went 3-for-4 and scored two runs, while Palmeiro went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Hunter Clanin also added his fourth three-hit night as a Railroader, and Justin Byrd went 2-for-4 with a double in his Railroaders debut.
The 6-7-8-9 hitters in Cleburne's order went 6-for-15 after combining for just five total hits in the seven games prior.
Cleburne now has Sunday off before opening the last roadtrip of 2018: a five-game swing that includes a pair of games in Sioux Falls, S.D. starting Monday and three games in Lincoln, Neb. beginning Wednesday.
The Railroaders return home for the final series of 2018 on Saturday, September 1 against the Texas AirHogs. Cleburne has just two home games remaining - Sept. 1 and Sept. 3 - and all ticket/promotional information can be found at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
