GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats dropped Game One of the doubleheader to Ryan Dipietro and the Shreveport-Bossier Captains by a score of 1-0 with Game Two to follow.

With the wind blowing in hard from right, U. S. Steel became even more pitcher-friendly, as evidenced by the final score. The only run of the game came home when Joe Urtuzuastegui scored when Brian Sabatella was a hair quicker than the throw from Chris Carrara to first on the double play attempt.

Southpaw Ryan Dipietro earned the victory going the distance for the Captains. The Berlin, Connecticut native held the RailCats offense to just four hits while walking two and striking out seven.

The ‘Cats pitching staff combined to allow just one run on five hits in a losing effort. Lefty Jeremy Hauer took the loss despite a solid outing as a spot starter allowing one run on two hits over his three innings of work. Brian Grening pitched two scoreless innings and James Baker and Will Krout each threw a shutout inning apiece.

Game Two is scheduled to get underway approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the first game with RailCats RHP Ryne Reynoso (1-3, 4.99) slated to face the Captains RHP Josh Strawn (2-1, 3.62) in the scheduled seven-inning contest.
