El Paso 4, Grand Prairie 3

El Paso scored a pair of runs in the second inning to take an early lead against Grand Prairie, and the Diablos held on to top the AirHogs 4-2 in game one of a doubleheader at Quik Trip Park. After leading 2-0 through the third inning, the Diablos added one more run in the top of the fourth when Alberto Espinosa hit a solo home run. In the bottom of the frame, Grand Prairie got on the board when John Alonso batted in David Espinosa. The AirHogs added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it wasn't enough to top El Paso. Designated hitter Adam Deleo led El Paso with two hits and two RBI in two at-bats, and Espinosa chipped in two hits and two runs for Grand Prairie. Colin Allen, now 2-2 on the season, earned the win by allowing eight hits, two runs and striking out five in five innings pitched.

Sioux City 5, Sioux Falls 3

Sioux Falls took an early 3-0 lead against Sioux City, but the Explorers scored runs late in the game to top the Pheasants 5-3 at Sioux Falls Stadium. Center fielder Reggie Abercrombie and designated hitter Mark Shorey each batted in a run in the first inning for Sioux Falls, and the Pheasants added one more in the third inning when second baseman Hunter Jobes batted in Shorey. In the top of the fifth inning, Brett Flowers doubled to knock in Sioux City's first run of the game, and shortstop Ryan Priddy followed with a two-run homer to tie the score at 3-3. The Explorers took the lead in the sixth inning when right fielder Derek Schermerhorn batted in center fielder Dustin Jones, and in the top of the ninth Sioux City added one more run for good measure. Sioux City had 10 hits in the game, and three Explorers had more than one.

Kansas City 8, Lincoln 7

First baseman Kala Kaaihue singled to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning, batting in second baseman Justin Snyder and third baseman Rico Washington and fueling Kansas City to an 8-7 win against Lincoln at Community America Ballpark. Lincoln took an early 5-0 lead when the Saltdogs scored five runs on two hits in the second inning. In the next frame, Lincoln added one more when Vance Albitz hit a sacrifice fly to center field. The T-Bones scored eight of the next nine runs with the help of homers in the fourth and sixth innings. Washington led Kansas City with three hits, three runs and two RBI in four at-bats, and Kaaihue added two hits and three RBI. Steven Stewart, now 4-4 on the season, earned the win by allowing no hits, no runs and striking out one in one inning pitched.

Fargo-Moorhead 5, St. Paul 3

First baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke had two hits, one run and three RBI to lead Fargo-Moorhead to a 5-3 win against St. Paul at Newman Outdoor Field. St. Paul scored in the top of the first inning, but the RedHawks took the lead in the second when Hoorelbeke hit a two-run homer. In the next frame, center fielder Nic Jackson and Hoorelbeke each batted in a run to give the RedHawks a 4-1 lead against the Saints. St. Paul added a run in the fourth and ninth innings, but it wasn't enough to catch up to Fargo-Moorhead. In addition to Hoorelbeke's standout performance, third baseman C.J. Retherford chipped in three hits and one run in four at-bats, and designated hitter Ole Sheldon had three hits, two RBI and one run for St. Paul. Kevin Light earned the win by allowing four hits, two runs and striking out five in six innings pitched.

Fort Worth 8, Amarillo 5

Forth Worth registered 15 hits against Amarillo en route to a 8-5 win against the Sox at LaGrave Field. The Cats got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, but Amarillo tied the score in the fourth when catcher Kevin Butler batted in designated hitter Tim Alberts and third baseman Van Pope. Forth Worth scored again in the fifth before the Sox took back the lead with a three-run sixth inning. In the bottom of the eighth, Fort Worth scored five runs on four hits to take the lead once and for all, and the Cats cruised to victory. Center fielder Ryan Patterson had four hits and one run in five at-bats for Fort Worth, and left fielder Michael Surina added three hits and one run. James Brandhorst, now 1-0 on the season, earned the win by allowing no hits, no runs and striking out one in one inning pitched.
