Shreveport-Bossier 1, Gary SouthShore 0

Ryan DiPietro, now 9-4 on the season, allowed just four hits, no runs and struck out eight in seven innings pitched to lead Shreveport-Bossier to a 1-0 win against Gary SouthShore in game one of a doubleheader at U.S. Steel Yard Stadium. After a scoreless first two frames, the Captains got on the board in the third inning when third baseman Bryan Sabatella reached first base on a fielder's choice and right fielder Joe Urtuzuastegui scored the first and only run of the game. Neither team scored during the four remaining innings, and the RailCats had just four hits in the game. Left fielder Chad Gabriel was the only Captain to register more than one hit, and center fielder Mike Massaro chipped in two hits for Gary SouthShore. Jeremy Hauer, now 2-1 on the season, recorded the loss by allowing two hits, one run and striking out one in three innings pitched.

Winnipeg 4, Wichita 2

Winnipeg scored runs off two walks in the bottom of the seventh inning to take back the lead against Wichita, and the Goldeyes cruised to a 4-2 win against the Wingnuts at Shaw Park. Both teams scored a run in the first inning, and the Goldeyes took a lead in the bottom of the sixth when catcher Luis Alen doubled to center field and batted in third baseman Louis Ott. In the top of the next frame, Wichita tied the score at two when third baseman Juan Richardson hit an RBI single to right field. With the bases loaded in the seventh inning, Winnipeg first baseman Brian Myrow was walked to score second baseman Price Kendall, and moments later shortstop Wes Long was walked, too, and right fielder Kody Kaiser scored. Alen led Winnipeg with three hits and one RBI in four at-bats. Aaron Hartsock, now 2-1 on the season, earned the win by allowing two hits and one run in one inning pitched.
