Puppies Stuck in Mud, Larks Collect Sweep of Tuesday Doubleheader

The Larks completed a sweep in a day-night doubleheader against the Minnesota Mud Puppies, winning 15-6 in the first game presented by Basin Electric and taking the second game in a thrilling 6-3 win.
Playing in front of many young fans in the first game as a part of education day at the ballpark, the Larks won 15-6. The bats were on fire and hard to stop, with the Larks collecting 13 hits in the game. Only one Larks player did not record a hit.
In game two, the Larks saw a great start from their ace in starter, Seth Brewer. The righty tossed seven innings only allowing one run while striking out eight. Brewer now leads the Larks with 29 strikeouts. His K total also is good for third in the entire Northwoods League.
Ryan Curran continues to see the ball well at the plate. The Larks outfielder went 3-8 on the day, but none of his three hits were bigger than the two out, two RBI single he had in the eighth of game two. Curran broke a 3-3 tie when he hit an RBI single into right-center to make it 5-3 for the Fetzer Electric Play of The Day.ÃÂ
The Larks slammed the door shut in the ninth to wrap up the tightly-contested game. Lefty reliever Brett Barnett was throwing heat, hitting 92 on the gun for the Metro-Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch.
After the Larks productive Tuesday, they look to sweep their series against the Mud Puppies on Wednesday night for a 6:35 first pitch.
