
Battery Lifts Kingfish over Pit Spitters

Traverse City, Mich - The Kenosha Kingfish (12-10) defeated the Traverse City Pit Spitters (14-7) 6-2 at Turtle Creek Stadium on Tuesday, June 22nd.
Looking to salvage the split, Kenosha took the lead in the first when Justin Janas (Illinois) drove in Mitch Jebb (Michigan State) to make it 1-0.
In the bottom half of the first, Traverse City took the lead on a balk and a Michael Stygles (Oakland) RBI groundout to make it 2-1.
In the second inning with the bases loaded, the Kingfish reclaimed the lead on a Kirk Liebert (Kentucky) grand slam that scored Henry Kusiak (Missouri Southern), McKay Barney (Washington) and Cam Redding (Saint Louis) to make it 5-2. Kenosha added one in the sixth inning when Jebb hit a sacrifice fly to plate Xavier Watson (Illinois) and increase the lead to 6-2.
On the mound, Kingfish starter Trent Turzenski (Valparaiso) picked up the win going six innings and allowing two earned runs. Brady Kais (Columbus State) pitched two innings of shutout ball. Nick Meyer (Dayton) threw the ninth inning, conceding no runs.
Kenosha will take on Battle Creek tomorrow, Wednesday, June 23 at 6:35 p.m EDT.
