Providence Downs Marlies in 5-4 Showstopper

Providence, RI - Brandon DeFazio combined for two goals and two assists in today's 5-4 win over the #1 ranked Eastern Dicision team, the Toronto Marlies. It was a busy game on both sides, with 9 goals being scored, 13 penalties issues, and 72 shots being fired on net.

Toronto got off to an early start, scoring a goal 3:14 into play. While the goal went under review by the referees, the call on the ice stood and the goal counted.

Three goals were scored in a span of 1:49 later in the period. The first of which was the Providence Bruins tying response. The P-Bruins capitalized on their first power play of the night when Toronto's Percy was called for hooking. DeFazio scored his first of two to tie the game at 1-1, assisted by Tommy Cross and Chris Casto.

Toronto took back the lead under a minute latwe qhen Arcobello was able to get one past McIntyre, only to have that lead snatched away by Frankie Vatrano 0:47 later. DeFazio notched his first assist of the night on Vatrano's tying goal.

Max Talbot gave the P-Bruins their first lead of the night, scoring a power play tally 6:06 into the second period. DeFazio picked up his second assist of the night, whicle Brian Ferlin also recorded a helper on the play. Toronto netted the equalizer late in the second to make it 3-3 headed into the third period.

Toronto came out firing and scored 4:48 into the final frame, but the 4-3 advantage was the last lead the Marlies would taste for the night. DeFazio scored his second goal and fourth point of the night with assists to Colin Miller and Vatrano to tie the game. Brian Ferlin netted the P-Bruins game-winner 3:05 later. Ferlin has quite the talent for finding the back of the net when the pressure is on as this was his 4th goal of the season and 3rd game-winning goal.

Providence is now 2-0 against the red-hot Toronto Marlies in the 2015-2016 season. The P-Bruins have picked up the first 4 points for their 7 game road trip. Providence is back at it again tomorrow against the Rochester Americans.
