With the win, the Monsters improved to 34-20-5-5 overall this season and with a .609 points percentage, remain alone in fourth place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

The Monsters grabbed a 1-0 lead in the opening frame's final minute on Saturday as Alex Broadhurst popped home a power-play goal at 19:39 on feeds from Daniel Zaar and Dean Kukan. Cundari then converted an even-strength breakaway chance at 5:05 to make it 3-0, with Trent Vogelhuber and Lukas Sedlak collecting assists on the play. Just over one minute later, Broadhurst capped Lake Erie's middle-frame scoring with his second of the game, an even-strength finish at 6:06, set up by John Ramage, that made it 4-0 Lake Erie heading into the third. The final frame's lone goal went to the Monsters and Sedlak at 7:24, a five-on-five score fed by Vogelhuber that delivered Lake Erie a 5-0 victory.
