Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs (34-17-7-4) come back to the BMO Harris Bank Center tonight at 7 p.m. for a rematch with the Chicago Wolves (27-28-5-3) in another Illinois Lottery Cup game.

Dusty Boots Saloon is bringing the Wild West to Rockford for Country Night. The band South 40 will be playing on the BMO stage throughout the evening.

To celebrate breaking the record for most AHL career shutouts, Michael Leighton will be honored by the IceHogs, Chicago Blackhawks, and the AHL preceding the puck drop. Leighton broke Johnny Bower's 59-year-old record on March 5 in Rockford against the Lake Erie Monsters, in a 5-0 game, to secure his 46th career AHL shutout.

Tonight's game is sold out. However, fans can purchase tickets to Sunday's 4 p.m. tilt against the Charlotte Checkers at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office or any Ticketmaster location including Walmart, by phone (815 968-5222) or online at www.icehogs.com.

The game will be broadcast on WIFR's "Justice Network" on 23.3, as well as Comcast Cable channel 434, Charter Cable channel 194 or Mediacom Channel 102 in the Rockford market, and online through AHLLive.com. Fans can also listen for free online at WXRX.com or by using the IceHogs mobile app. Follow along on Twitter (@goIceHogs) for live updates throughout the game.

Last night the IceHogs fell 4-1 to the Wolves in Rosemont. The lone Rockford goal came from the team's assists leader, defenseman Ville Pokka.

Despite the outcome, the IceHogs offense was firing on all cylinders, out-shooting the Wolves 37-22. Their biggest enemy was Chicago netminder Jordan Binnington who refused to let anything cross the goal line until late in the game. As of late, the IceHogs have struggled to score, recording only one goal in each of their last three games.

Along with strong goaltending, the Wolves were also very opportunistic on offense. The first goal came early in the opening frame in which Evan Trupp caught Drew MacIntyre by surprise, due to Ty Rattie's shot that ricocheted off the glass. Later on, Ivan Barbashev took advantage of a puck MacIntyre kicked away from the net, blasting in Zach O'Brien's rebound. Danny Kristo scored on a breakaway early in the third, and the final goal was an empty netter late in the final period.

Next Home Game: Sunday, Mar. 20 vs. Charlotte Checkers at 4 p.m. The Force is strong at the BMO Harris Bank Center as Star Wars Night invades the arena. The IceHogs will be wearing special Darth Vader jerseys that will be auctioned on the ice after the game to benefit Special Olympics. Fans will have the opportunity to take pictures with various Stars Wars characters roaming around the concourse.
