The Americans and Chiefs will match up tonight for the ninth time in their 13-game season series.

The Americans are 2-6-0-0 against the Chiefs so far the season. The two teams are in a heated battle for the final Western Conference playoff spot with the Victoria Royals. Currently the Americans and Royals are tied for the 8th position with 31 points and the Americans have one game in hand. Spokane is just one point back with 30 points.

Tri-City was defeated 6-2 by the Portland Winterhawks last night at the Toyota Center. Tri-City's opened scoring in the second period with a goal from Marc Lajoie, giving him goals in back-to-back games. The Americans nearly carried a 2-1 lead into the second intermission but a allowed a late second period goal from the Winterhawks to tie the game. he Winterhawks' scoring continued as they pulled away in the third period. Portland added four more goals, including three from Robbie Fromm-Delorme, in the final frame. Nick Avakyan, who turned 18 yesterday, played in net for the Americans. He turned aside 40 of 45 shots faced.
