Portland Winterhawks News Release
Portland, Ore. - Robbie Fromm-Delorme tallied a third-period hat trick and Dante Giannuzzi made 42 saves as the Winterhawks posted five unanswered goals to knock off the Tri-City Americans 6-2 in Kennewick on Friday.
Fromm-Delorme, playing just his second game since returning from injury on Feb. 15, logged his first career multi-goal game as he netted three in the final frame starting with what became the game-winning strike at 5:41. Cross Hanas faked the "Michigan" move behind the net before cutting out in front and firing a pass through the crease to the waiting Fromm-Delorme for a tap-in.
Three minutes later, Fromm-Delorme beat his man down the ice on a long pass from Hanas to negate the icing call before deftly chipping the puck over Tri-City goaltender Nick Avakyan for his second of the night. Just 21 seconds after that marker, Gabe Klassen struck once more for Portland, making it a 5-2 game and providing the insurance needed to see out another victory.
Capping off the trifecta, Fromm-Delorme iced the game with an empty netter at 18:06, again assisted by Hanas.
Earlier in the contest, Tri-City took a 2-1 lead on goals from Marc Lajoie and Samuel Huo sandwiched around James Stefan's team-leading 25th of the year for Portland. Stefan was the beneficiary of some slick passing on the Hawks' power play, as Jaydon Dureau worked the puck to Tyson Kozak on the goal line, who then spun a no-look pass to Stefan on the back door for a one-timer.
As the second period wound down, Portland chased the tying tally and found it when Marcus Nguyen combined beautifully with Aidan Litke on a 2-on-1 rush. Nguyen carried the puck down the left wing side, drew the sliding defender towards him, then slid a backhand pass to Litke for a one-time tally and a tie game before the third period.
The Hawks head home to take on Seattle on Saturday and Spokane on Sunday at the VMC.
