
Power Release 2013 Schedule

Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
Charleston, WV (August 24, 2012) - The West Virginia Power released their 2013 schedule today which opens at home on Thursday, April 4th. The 2013 schedule also brings with it several college games including West Virginia University, Marshall and the University of Charleston.
The 2013 season marks the ninth season of Power baseball at Appalachian Power Park. The team opens the season at home with a seven game series against the Asheville Tourists and the Charleston, SC RiverDogs. Opening weekend will also feature a three game series between Marshall and Houston. The Power will then hit the road for a seven game series with at Asheville and Greenville before returning home on April 18th to take on the Hagerstown Suns. The team will round out the first month of the season in the southern part of the league facing the RiverDogs and the Savannah SandGnats.
"Marshall University and UC have played here for a few years now, and we are excited to extend our college games to include WVU in 2013," stated Executive Vice of the West Virginia Power Andy Milovich.
The collegiate action at Appalachian Power Park will feature WVU vs. Oklahoma in a three game series on May 3rd and 4th with the 4th featuring a double header. Other games include WVU vs. Texas Tech March 22nd - 24th, Marshall vs. Tulane April 26th - 28th, and WVU vs. TCU May 10th - 12th. Additionally, the West Virginia State High School Baseball Tournament will return to the park May 30th through June 1st.
On the Power front, 2013 brings every team from the Southern Division except the Augusta GreenJackets and the Rome Braves through Charleston, giving Power fans the opportunity to see the up and coming major league stars for the Astros, Rockies, Red Sox, Yankees, and Mets. Promotionally, the Power are building the 2013 calendar which will feature many of the time-tested promotions as well as some exciting new additions.
"We've had a solid weekly line-up of promotions the last two seasons with Family Buck Night, Two-for-Tuesday, Thirsty Thursday, and Friday Night Fireworks," stated Milovich. "As in previous years, we plan to carry those weekly promotions into next season and will be working in the coming months to schedule additional promotions and giveaways."
