Playoff Tickets To Go On Sale; B-Mets Release 2007 Schedule
August 30, 2006 - Eastern League (EL1)
Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
If the Binghamton Mets qualify for the post-season, tickets for playoff games at NYSEG Stadium will go on sale Tuesday, September 5th at 9 am at the stadium box office, the team's store at the Oakdale Mall & on line at www.bmets.com.
The top two teams in the Eastern League's Northern & Southern divisions at the end of the regular season will advance to the divisional series. Heading into tonight's game, the B-Mets trail 2nd place Portland by three games and must either take sole possession of 2nd place or tie the Sea Dogs by the conclusion of both teams' season finales on Labor Day (9/4) for an opportunity to advance. In the case of a tie for 2nd place, a one-game playoff would take place on Tuesday, September 5th between the deadlocked teams. Site of the game would be determined by several tie-breaking factors.
The best-of-five-game divisional series will begin at the home of the 1st place team on Wednesday, September 6th. Game #2 will occur the next day at the same site. The series will shift to the 2nd place club's ballpark for games #3 & #4 (if necessary). Barring any postponements of the first two games, the first potential game of this series at NYSEG Stadium would fall on Friday night, September 8th. Game #4 would occur in Binghamton on Saturday night, September 9th. A 5th & final game, if necessary, would shift back to the 1st place team's home on Sunday, September 10th. The winner will advance to face the victor in the Southern Division playoffs in a best-of-five-games championship series.
No matter the outcome of the championship series, the B-Mets 2007 home schedule will begin against the same opponent that closes out this year's home slate tomorrow night. Binghamton's home opener versus the Portland Sea Dogs will take place on Thursday night, April 12th at 6:35 pm. The B-Mets open the 142-game schedule on Thursday, April 5th at Akron (OH).
B-Mets fans will have a chance to enjoy America's Pastime on each of the three summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day & Labor Day. Trenton, the New York Yankees' AA affiliate, visits Binghamton for two separate series. The 71-game home schedule concludes on September 3rd.
