Salt Lake Bees News Release
Luis Pena had a strong Triple-A debut, as he helped the Salt Lake Bees to a 6-2 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Saturday night.
Pena (1-0) went five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit with five strikeouts and three walks. Pena closed out his start by retiring the final eleven batters he faced. Ralston Cash and Taylor Cole combined to pitch four scoreless innings out of the bullpen with Cole earning his third save of the season.
The Bees took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly by Eric Young, Jr. and an RBI triple by Francisco Arcia. After Colorado Springs tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the second, Salt Lake regained the lead in the third on a leadoff triple by Kole Calhoun and a wild pitch. Calhoun, who was playing in the fourth game of his Major League injury rehab assignment, would add an RBI double in the seventh to go to 2 for 5. He is now 5 for 18 during his rehab with the Bees. Sherman Johnson led Salt Lake with three hits and three runs scored, while Francisco Arcia would add two hits and one run batted in.
