Fresno, Calif. - A night after posting their first shutout of the season, the Fresno Grizzlies pitchers once again shined by holding the New Orleans Zephyrs to one run in a 6-1 victory on Friday at Chukchansi Park.

Starting pitcher Shane Loux allowed one unearned run in his six innings of work while the bullpen combined to toss threes shutout innings. Mason Tobin, Steve Edlefsen, and Brett Bochy each contributed one scoreless inning of relief. All four pitchers limited the Zephyrs to four hits total.

Loux registered his fourth win of the season in Friday's start. He allowed two hits, but did not surrender his first base hit until the 11th batter he faced. The right-hander struck out four and walked one.

The Fresno offense took until the third inning to record its first hit and the fifth inning to score its first run. Jackson Williams drove a full-count pitch off the left field wall for a double to score Juan Perez and tie the game at 1-1 in the fifth. Johnny Monell later scored in the fifth on a Gary Brown force out to tally the eventual game-winning run.

In the sixth, the first three Grizzlies hitters all recorded a hit and scored a run to improve the Fresno lead. Roger Kieschnick tripled to start the frame before he was driven in by Chris Dominguez with a single to center field. Perez cleared the bases with a two-run home run, his second homer in as many days.

Perez scored three runs in the game, including one in the seventh on Monell's groundball. Perez finished 2-for-3 with a double, home run, walk, and a stolen base. It was his third straight multi-hit game.

The win goes down as the Grizzlies' 14th comeback victory of the season. New Orleans grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Bryan Petersen drove in Wilson Valdez with an RBI single. Valdez reached base to lead off the inning on an error by shortstop Perez.

The Grizzlies are a season-high four games above .500 after the victory with a 23-19 record.

Kensuke Tanaka and Jackson Williams each reached base safely three times with a hit and two walks.

Doug Mathis took the loss for New Orleans after being responsible for four runs on six hits and three walks over five innings.

The Grizzlies and Zephyrs will square off for game three of the four-game series on Saturday at 7:05 pm. Left-hander Mike Kickham will take the mound for Fresno and face southpaw Brian Flynn of New Orleans.
