Carlos Triunfel Leads Rainiers Past Redbirds, 4-3

TACOMA, Wash. - Carlos Triunfel collected three hits and drove in the game-deciding run as the Tacoma Rainiers topped the Memphis Redbirds 4-3 at Cheney Stadium on Saturday night.

Triunfel lined a double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Alex Liddi from first base and break up a 3-3 tie with two outs. The infielder ended the night 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Reliever Bobby LaFromboise (2-0) picked up the win for the Rainiers after tossing 2.0 perfect innings and fanning four over the seventh and eighth. LaFromboise has not allowed a run to score over 18 career appearances and 29.1 innings pitched at Cheney Stadium since his Triple-A debut last season.

Reliever Logan Bawcom struck out two over a shutout frame of work in the ninth on the way to earning his sixth save of 2013. Starter Jeremy Bonderman limited the Redbirds to three runs on six hits over 6.0 innings. The right-hander walked two and struck out three in his ninth turn in the Rainiers rotation.

Franklin Gutierrez, who was playing in the third game of his Major League rehab assignment with the Rainiers, went 1-for-4 including an RBI-single that tied the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Rainiers (25-18) look to secure a series split in the club's finale against Memphis (22-18) tomorrow, May 19th. Left-hander James Paxton (2-3, 3.93) is slated to start for Tacoma against Redbirds right-hander Maikel Cleto (1-2, 7.66). First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m.
