Zephyrs Fall to Fresno 6-1

FRESNO, California - Cole Gillespie drilled a three run home run as Fresno handed the New Orleans Zephyrs a 6-3 defeat in front of 11,357 fans at Chukchansi Field. The loss gives the Zephyrs a season high four game losing streak.

The Fresno pitching staff has limited the Zephyrs offense to four runs in the first three games of the series. Michael Kickham pitched six innings allowed four hits and one unearned run and picked up his second win of the season.

The Grizzlies Brett Pill led off the second inning with a double and Johnny Monell dropped a two run home run into the rightfield seats to give them a 2-0 advantage.

Fresno added a run with a Juan Perez RBI double in the third inning. The Z's answered in the fourth with a pair of hits and Ed Lucas scored on a fielding error by the Grizzlies shortstop.

Fresno added three more runs in the sixth inning with a pair of singles and the home run from Gillespie that chased Brian Flynn out of the game. Flynn worked five and a third innings allowed six runs on eight hits and suffered the defeat.

The Z's offense rallied with four hits in the ninth inning a scored a pair of runs off of Heath Hembree.

The Zephyrs have fallen to season low four games under .500 with a record of 18-22.
