Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres scored three runs in the first inning on way to a 4-2 win over the Iowa Cubs Saturday at Principal Park. The Padres have won five of their last six road games and advanced to four games over .500 for the first time in team history.

The two newest Padres put Tucson ahead 2-0 in the first, when Mike Wilson hit an RBI double off the center field wall and Yasmani Grandal brought home Wilson on an RBI single. Grandal later scored on Gregorio Petit's single to center for the third run of the inning. Grandal finished the night 2-for-4 in his first game of the season.

The Cubs answered with one run in the bottom of the first when Brett Jackson chopped a grounder to first base with Logan Watkins at third. Donnie Murphy's bloop single to left in the fourth scored Ian Stewart to cut Tucson's lead to 3-2. The Padres added an insurance run in the seventh when Jaff Decker scored on Daniel Robertson's RBI groundout.

Sean O'Sullivan pitched seven innings and allowed only two runs on six hits while striking out four. He also contributed at the plate with his fifth hit of the season, raising his average to .500. Colt Hynes retired all five batters he faced and Brad Boxberger recorded the final out to pick up his fourth save. Chris Rusin took the loss, allowing three earned runs on five hits in 6.2 innings. He also threw four wild pitches. The Padres will try for their fourth straight series win Sunday.
