TACOMA, Wash. - Carlos Peguero stretched his season-high hitting streak to nine games after collecting two hits, including a home run, as the Tacoma Rainiers fell to the Memphis Redbirds 7-4 at Cheney Stadium on Friday night.

Peguero accounted for half of the Rainiers four runs in the contest. The outfielder led off the bottom of the fourth with a double, then cut Tacoma's 3-1 deficit down to a run after scoring on Rich Poythress' ground out later in the inning. He tied the game at 3-3 with a solo home run in the sixth - his sixth of the season.

The 3-3 score held until Memphis tallied four runs on six hits in the top of the ninth inning, kick started by a bunt ground ball single delivered by Adron Chambers that drove in Justin Christian for the go-ahead score with two outs.

Tacoma collected a combined nine hits in the contest. Outfielder Abraham Almonte delivered the Rainiers other two-hit effort after collecting a pair of singles.

Reliever Brian Sweeney (4-1) was dealt the loss after surrendering all four runs on five hits over 0.2 innings of work in the ninth inning.
