Pitcher Dylan Covey to Begin Career in Beloit

BELOIT, WI - The Oakland Athletics have announced that pitcher Dylan Covey has been added to the roster of the Beloit Snappers. Covey was the Athletics fourth round selection in the 2013 draft out of the University of San Diego and Beloit will be his first stop in professional baseball.

To make room for Covey, pitcher Deyvi Jimenez is being transferred to the Vermont Lake Monsters.

Covey was drafted by the Athletics after his junior year at USD, during which he was one of the team's starting pitchers. In 18 games (16 starts), Covey's record was 5-4 and his ERA was 5.05. He struck out 65 and walked 43 in 76.2 innings.

Covey, who's listed at 6-2, 200 pounds, is a right-handed pitcher from Pasadena, California. He was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers with the 14th overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft out of Maranatha High School, but declined to sign.
