
Captains Slither Past Timber Rattlers 4-3

Lake County Captains News Release
(Appleton, WI) - Lake County (13-10) scored three runs in the ninth inning to beat Wisconsin (10-13) by a final of 4-3. With one out, Joe Sever homered to left field to trim the lead to 3-2. Jeremy Lucas then singled and moved to second base on a wild pitch. Eric Hasse ripped a double to left field to tie the game at 3-3. Anthony Santander then doubled to right field and the Captains got the lead 4-3. They won the game by that score. The win breaks the Captains four game losing streak.
In the fifth inning, Victor Roach hit his tenth homerun of the season to open the scoring at 1-0. The next hitter Garrett Cooper singled, and then Parker Berberet homered to left field and the score was 3-0 Rattlers. They kept that lead until the seventh inning. Logan Vick doubled to center field and then Jeremy Lucas singled him home and the score was 3-1. It stayed that way until the ninth.
RHP Robbie Aviles (3-3) started the ballgame for the Captains and did not get a decision. Aviles pitched four and two thirds innings, and allowed five hits, three earned runs, two walks and one strikeout. Jimmy Stokes pitched two and one third innings of scoreless baseball in relief and gave way to Benny Suarez. Suarez (2-2) got the win after pitching two scoreless innings for the Captains.
RHP Jorge Lopez (4-6) got the starting nod for Wisconsin and did not factor in the decision. Lopez pitched seven innings and allowed three hits, one earned run, with two walks and four strikeouts. Taylor Mangum (2-5) took the loss. He pitched two innings and allowed six hits, three earned runs, and he struck out one. He allowed the homer to Joe Sever.
Lake County will conclude the road trip on Sunday, and stay in Appleton, WI to take on the 2012 Mid West League Champion Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the finale of a three game series. Lake County will start LHP Ryan Merritt (5-8, 3.62) and the Rattlers will counter with RHP Johnny Hellweg (0-0, 0.00). First Pitch will be at 1:05 PM from Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin.
