Burlington Bees News Release
Michael Bolaski made his return from the disabled list a memorable one, smacking two home runs and driving in four, as the Burlington Bees romped the Lansing Lugnuts 8-1 on Sunday afternoon at Cooley Law School Stadium.
Burlington (35-53, 9-14) continued its offensive explosion on Sunday, cranking out eight runs on 10 hits to win its fourth consecutive game. The four straight wins ties a season-high set in May when the Bees swept Cedar Rapids and took the first game of a doubleheader against Peoria. Burlington has now scored 29 runs in its last three games.
The Bees did not need many runs, but they got them thanks to three home runs. Andrew Ray broke a scoreless tie in the fourth, blasting a two-run shot onto Cedar Street. Kramer Champlin (4-2) struggled with the long ball, allowing a solo home run to Bolaski in the fifth, as well. Champlin came in out of the bullpen for Kendall Graveman. Graveman made his pro debut, tossing two scoreless innings, not allowing a hit, while walking one.
Ryan Crowley (8-3) looked like the all-star that he was, delivering five scoreless innings, while striking out five. The Lugnuts (37-55, 5-18) struggled to bring home men in scoring position, loading the bases against Crowley with one out, but they came away with nothing.
The lone run for Lansing came in the sixth when Jason Leblebijian tripled off of Chris O'Grady to start the inning and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Hawkins. O'Grady delivered three innings of one-run ball, while striking out four.
Chevy Clarke and Sherman Johnson each had RBI singles in the seventh, while Bolaski belted a three-run shot in the eighth to put the game away.
Burlington will go for its fifth straight win on Monday night when Nic DellaTorre takes on Javier Avendano at 7:05 eastern time.
