Pirates Release Two Players From Training Camp Roster

PORTLAND, ME – The Portland Pirates reduced their training camp roster to 29 players today by releasing two players. The announcement was today made by Pirates Head Coach Tim Army after the Pirates 6-2 win last night in exhibition play versus the Providence Bruins.

The Pirates have released forward Brad Both and goaltender Maxime Daigneault.

Both did not play in last night's game, he played in one game during the Pirates exhibition schedule and recorded five penalty minutes and did not register a point. Daigneault played in the Pirates 5-4 shootout win over Manchester on Sunday, and made 16 saves in between the pipes.

Both will report to Atlantic City (ECHL) for camp, while Daigneault has been assigned to South Carolina (ECHL).

The Pirates roster now stands at 29 players. The Portland Pirates training camp roster is made up of three goaltenders, 10 defenseman and 16 forwards.

The Pirates will trim their roster to 25-27 players prior to their season opener on October 16th. Portland is undefeated in exhibition action this season with a 3-0 mark, including two wins over the Manchester Monarchs and one victory over the Providence Bruins.

In the three exhibition games, the Pirates have scored a combined 14 goals. The Pirates have scored first in each contest and have scored three goals in the first period of each game. The Pirates will put their perfect exhibition record (3-0) on the line tomorrow night in the Pirates final exhibition game of the year versus the Providence Bruins at 7:00pm at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Tickets for the Pirates final exhibition game vs. the Providence Bruins on Friday, October 8 at the Cumberland County Civic Center are on sale now. The Pirates home opener is scheduled for Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 7:05pm, Hockey Night in Portland, at the Cumberland County Civic Center. On opening night, the first 5,000 fans will receive an official Pirates Magnetic Schedule from Paul G. White Tile Co. Inc. and the Pirates. Spectacular indoor fireworks show after the game sponsored by Cumberland County Civic Center. Individual game tickets are on sale now and start at just $6.
