Pigs Walk-Off in Finale

The Pigs walked off again at Coca-Cola Park, rallying back from four runs down to defeat the Stripers 6-5. Dean Anna singled in the bottom of the 10th to score Tom Eshelman to take the series.

The Stripers jumped out to a 3-0 lead against the Pigs in the top of the second inning against Cole Irvin. A three-run home run by Alex Jackson started the scoring in the game. Gwinnett would add one more against Irvin to build a 4-0 lead in the top of the 3rd.

Lehigh Valley began the comeback in the bottom of the third against Matt Wisler. A Dylan Cozens rbi double made it a 4-1 game, one batter later the deficit was cut to two on a rbi single by Aaron Altherr. Dean Anna who extended his hitting streak to 15 games reached base four times with three singles including a rbi in the bottom of the fourth to make it a one run game.

Irvin did not earn a decision in the ball game after leaving with the Pigs trailing 6-3. He struck out five and allowed eight hits, six-runs, five earned. Yacksel Rios, Hector Neris and Pedro Beato provided a scoreless inning of relief while combining to strike out five.

Trailing by three in the bottom of the seventh-inning, the Pigs completed the comeback against Chad Bell and the Stripers. Cozens for the second time in the series tied the ball game up with a three-run home run to tie the game at six.

Gwinnett loaded the bases against Zac Curtis (2-2) in the top of the 10th inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Curtis struck out the next two hitters to send the game to the bottom of the 10th tied.

After Tom Eshelman pinch ran to as the placed runner, Roman Quinn sacrificed him over to third to set up the walk-off single by Anna against Jason Hursh (2-5). This is the Pigs sixth walk-off win in July. Dylan Cozens finished with four rbis while Dean Anna finished with two.

The Columbus Clippers make their lone trip to Coca-Cola Park beginning tomorrow night at 7:05. Jacob Waguespack starts for the IronPigs and stick around after the game for Beatles themed fireworks brought to you by DeSales University's Access Program.
