Louisville Bats News Release

BATS LOOK TO WIN 10TH STRAIGHT: The Bats go look to extend their winning streak to 10 games in the series finale tonight against the Buffalo Bisons. Last night, Louisville earned its second straight come-from-behind victory, trailing 2-0 early before being fueled by D.J. Peterson 's multi-home run effort to win by a 6-2 score. The Bats' 9-game winning streak is their longest win streak since 2012.

AGAINST BUFFALO: Louisville and Buffalo meet for the final time in 2018 on Thursday night. The clubs were scheduled to meet back in mid-April at Buffalo, but all 3 games were either postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather. The Bisons were the final team that Louisville had yet to face in 2018. Last season, Buffalo took the season series by a 4-3 advantage, taking three of four from LOU at LSF, with the Bats taking two of three at Buffalo.

NINE IS JUST FINE: The Bats have won 9 straight games for the first time since winning 9 straight from June 18-26, 2012. During that streak, Louisville won 9 straight vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (6/18-6/21), at Pawtucket (6/22-6/25) and at Buffalo (6/26).

WE'RE GOING STREAKING!: Louisville last won 10+ straight games during the 2010 season, when they were victorious in 11 consecutive games from July 22 to August 3, winning at Charlotte (7/22), at Gwinnett (7/23-7/25), vs. Charlotte (7/26-7/30), vs. Columbus (7/31-8/1) and at Columbus (8/3). The franchise record win streak in Louisville history was back in 2003, when the Bats won 12 straight games from May 18-31.

THE D.J. PETERSON GAME: Third baseman D.J. Peterson was a one-man wrecking crew on Wednesday night, catapulting the Bats to a 6-2 win with a 3-for-4 game that included a double with 2 home runs and 4 RBI. His solo shot in the bottom of the fourth tied the game, while his three-run homer in the fifth extended the Bats' lead to 6-2. It was the fifth multi-homer game by a Bats hitter this season, and the first for Peterson since June 5, 2016 while playing for the Class AA Jackson Generals vs. Pensacola.

WELCOME BACK: The Cincinnati Reds selected the contract of outfielder Mason Williams . The 2018 IL All-Star returns to the big leagues after appearing in 25 games with the New York Yankees from 2015-17. In 87 games with Louisville this season, Williams is batting .280 (89-for-318) with 52 runs, 18 doubles, 4 triples, 6 home runs, 30 RBI, 29 walks and 5 stolen bases. He currently leads the team in hits, runs, and is tied with Phillip Ervin for the team lead in triples.

THE CENTURY MARK: Tonight marks the 100th game of the season for Louisville as it tries to win its 10th in a row. Last season at the 100-game mark, the Bats owned a 40-60 record. In 2016, the Bats were 50-50. The Bats were last above .500 after 100 games in 2011, when they were 52-48.

BACK-TO-BACK COMEBACK WINS: The Bats have won back-to-back games in come-from-behind fashion for just the second time this season, previously accomplishing it in 3 straight games from April 24-27.

STARTING PITCHING DURING THE STREAK: Since the Bats' 9-game winning streak began, the starting pitching has been excellent. Robert Stephenson, Homer Bailey, Cody Reed, Justin Nicolino, Jose Lopez, Keury Mella and Domingo Tapia have combined to go 7.0 with a 1.35 ERA, giving up just 8 earned runs in 53.1 innings on the mound, walking 16 and striking out 38.
