Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will look to snap a two-game skid when they host the Louisville Bats in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch of Game one is slated for 1:05 p.m. with game two to follow. Both contests will be seven innings.
RHP Jason Berken (4-4, 3.70) gets the ball for the Pigs on Sunday in game one. The right-hander got the win in his last start on June 19 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as he gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits to go along with a walk and three strikeouts in five innings of work. Berken will be making his second start of the year against Louisville. Back on May 5, he got the win as he gave up one run on four hits while walking two and fanning six in 5.0 IP.
RHP Dylan Axelrod (4-5, 4.31) will be on the bump for manager Delino DeShields' squad in game one. Axelrod allowed two runs on five hits to go along with a walk and five strikeouts in 6.1 IP when he earned the win last time out on Monday at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Santa Barbara, Calif. native was tagged with the loss against the Pigs on May 5 at Louisville Slugger Field as he surrendered six runs on 11 hits in 4.2 IP. In his career, Axelrod is 1-1 with a 7.25 ERA (22.1 IP/18 ER) over 5 GS vs. Lehigh Valley.
Lehigh Valley has yet to announce a starting pitcher for game two.
RHP Donovan Hand (1-3, 4.38) draws the start for Louisville in game two. Hand got a no-decision at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday when he gave up four runs (two earned) on eight hits while fanning two in 5.1 IP. So far this season, the right-hander has walked just eight batters in 49.1 IP.
The first 2,000 fans 17 and under will receive an IronPigs Helmet Popcorn Bowl giveaway presented by NAMI-LV, Digital Oasis and InsuranceHouseCall.com. Following the game, all kids 12 and under can take part in "Kids Run the Bases" presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network.
