Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

SIOUX FALLS - Hartford resident Rob Lind didn't have to go far to get his first taste of professional baseball. The Sioux Falls Pheasants signed the rookie infielder and graduate of West Central High School on Friday.

Lind played collegiately most recently at Georgia State. In the 2011 season with the Panthers, Lind hit .327, slugged 10 home runs and drove home 37 RBI. He played previously at Iowa Western Community College.

On Friday, the Pheasants also placed third baseman Trevor Lawhorn on the disabled list, retroactive to August 9. Lawhorn has been hampered by a sore quad.

The Pheasants' roster has 22 active players plus two men on the disabled list, Lawhorn and catcher Henry Contreras. American Association rules allow for 23 active players beginning August 21 through the remainder of the regular season.

The Sioux Falls Pheasants start a three-game series tonight against the Sioux City Explorers at 7:05 p.m. tonight in Sioux City. The game will be broadcast live on Sioux Falls Sports Radio 1230-AM and www.kwsn.com.
