Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers overcame a 1-0 third-period deficit, picking up the equalizer from Jeremy Colliton with just over six minutes to play and getting the winner from Mike Iggulden with 50.1 seconds left in overtime to take a 2-1 win from the Philadelphia Phantoms at the Wachovia Spectrum on Friday night at Dollar Dog Night at the Wachovia Spectrum. The 6,005 fans on hand consumed an estimated 5,752 hot dogs while watching the Phantoms play a fierce battle against the second-ranked team in the Eastern Conference.

Despite being outshot 17-8 in the first period, the Phantoms struck first with just under six minutes remaining in the opening frame. Michael Ratchuk's wrist shot from the left point deflected off a Bridgeport player and past goaltender Yann Danis for his second goal of the season, giving Philadelphia a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.

Phantoms goaltender Scott Munroe preserved Philadelphia's 1-0 lead throughout the second with a number of impressive saves. Midway through the period, Munroe made a pivotal stop on Jesse Joensuu, who snuck behind the Phantoms defense and was by himself for a chance from the right side. On the ensuing face-off, Munroe came up huge again when he reached back and prevented a rebound attempt from trickling over the goal line.

In the third, Munroe continued his solid play but the Sound Tigers tied the score with 6:07 left in the game. With Ryan Parent in the box for an interference penalty, Colliton tipped in Andrew McDonald's point shot for his third goal of the season, which would eventually send the game to overtime.

After the Phantoms failed to convert on an early overtime power play, Andreas Nodl's hooking penalty gave the Sound Tigers the chance to end the game with the man advantage. Iggulden took full advantage of the opportunity, blasting a slap shot past Munroe with 51 seconds left in OT.

Munroe finished the night with 37 saves while Danis stopped 28 of the 29 shots thrown his way by Philadelphia.

The Phantoms now embark on a five game road trip that will take them a total of nearly 1,600 miles to Toronto, Hamilton, Grand Rapids and Cleveland. It starts Saturday with a 4:00 start in Toronto. They'll return home to Philadelphia on January 14 for a 7:05 match-up with the Worcester Sharks. Tickets for that game, as well as all 2008-09 regular season games, are available by calling 1-800-298-4200 or visiting phantomshockey.com.

Through a new partnership with Babies ‘R Us, all kids tickets for all Phantoms games are just $5 for the rest of the season. Fans are encouraged to take advantage of this great value to experience all the Wachovia Spectrum has to offer as the Phantoms play the final season of hockey in the historic building. Those who grew up watching the Flyers, Sixers, various concerts, and other events in the Spectrum have a tremendous final opportunity to give their kids a similar experience between now and the final regular season game on Sunday, April 12.
