Regina, SK - Lasse Petersen made 19 saves to record a shutout in his Western Hockey League debut backstopping the Calgary Hitmen to a 3-0 win over the Regina Pats on Sunday afternoon at the Brandt Centre.

Travis Sanheim led the offense with a goal and an assist while Elliott Peterson and Pavel Karnaukhov rounded out the scoring. Jake Bean set up a pair of goals with Dawson Martin adding an assist for his first career WHL point.

The Hitmen used a strong start jumping out to a 2-0 lead less than six minutes into the opening period and carried the play most of the game, outshooting Regina 32-19.

Calgary's penalty killers also played a key role as Regina went 0-8 on the powerplay.

With the victory, the Hitmen improve to 4-1 moving into a tie with Red Deer for first place in the Central Division. Regina, shutout for their second straight game at home, drops to 1-3.

Calgary finishes their three-game East Division road trip with a record of 2-1 and will return to Alberta to host the Rebels on Friday, Oct. 9 in the start of a home-and-home set. Game time at the Scotiabank Saddledome is 7:00 p.m. The rematch goes Saturday, Oct. 10 in Red Deer.
