Regina Pats News Release

Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats (1-2-0-0) took on the Brandon Wheat Kings (2-1-0-1) in a rematch of their 2015 playoff series. The Brandon powerplay struck four times as the Wheat Kings went on to the 6-0 victory.

It was the Jayce Hawryluk show for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the first period. The Florida Panthers prospect tallied a natural hat-trick. All three goals came from right in the blue paint with two of the markers on the powerplay. The Pats found themselves trailing 3-0 through twenty minutes. The Wheat Kings powerplay continued to dominate with a pair of early goals from John Quenneville and Hawryluk's fourth of the night. Daniel Wapple tried to hold the line for the Pats, coming up with a pair of great saves following the goals. The Wheat Kings broke through again late in the frame as Reid Duke went end-to-end, finishing on a toe-drag and wrist shot for a 6-0 lead after two periods. The third saw the physical play pick up, but nobody could find the back of the net. Tyler Brown stopped 12 while Jordan Papirny turned aside eight to seal the shutout and a 6-0 Wheat Kings victory.

Quick Hits Tyler Brown took over for Daniel Wapple with 1:15 left in the second stopping all 13 shots faced. The teams combined for 120 penalty minutes.

What's Next? The Pats have a quick turnaround as they take on the Calgary Hitmen on home ice Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.ca, the Brandt Centre Box and Safeway locations throughout Regina.
