Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - A two-hit day by third baseman David Villar and a solid relief outing by righty Randy Rodriguez were bright spots as the Sacramento River Cats (49-64) fell 12-1 to the Las Vegas Aviators (56-57) on Tuesday.

The Aviators scored two early runs and did not look back, taking a 7-0 lead by the top of the sixth.

Left fielder Drew Jackson's speed was on display in the bottom of the sixth when he hustled for a one-out double and scored on catcher Jhonny Pereda's RBI single.

Right-hander Sean Hjelle (5-7) finished the day with two strikeouts and two earned runs on three hits and two walks in 3.0 innings.

Righty Ronnie Williams (0-0, 18.00) will try to earn the three-game series win with a victory in Wednesday's finale. He'll take on the No. 70 prospect on MLB Pipeline, lefty Ken Waldichuk (0-1, 4.32) at 6:35 p.m. (PT). Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

Rodriguez, San Francisco's No. 12 prospect on MLB Pipeline, struck out three over 1.2 hitless and scoreless innings.

Villar went 2-for-5 with a double, while center fielder Shane Matheny lined a double to go 1-for-4.

Normally an infielder, right-hander Jason Krizan took the mound to get the final out in the top of the ninth. He has a 0.00 ERA in 2.0 career innings for Sacramento.
