Penguins Assign Thiessen and Grant to Wheeling

WHEELING,WV - The Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned goaltender Brad Thiessen and Defensemen Alex Grant to the Wheeling Nailers and have recalled goaltender Adam Berkhoel.

Thiessen, 23 a native of Aldergrove, Alberta played in four games with the Baby Penguins posting a 1-3 record with a.915 save percentage.

Grant, a native of Antigonish, Nova Scotia returns to Wheeling after posting one point (1G) with the Penguins in four games. While in Wheeling Grant has played in twelve games with 6 points (4G,2A) and a +/- of 4.

Berkhoel returns to Wilkes-Barre / Scranton after playing in ten games with the Nailers with a.881 save percentage.

Both Grant and Thiessen are expected to join the team in Johnstown tonight where the Nailers will battle the Chiefs at 7:05pm. Catch all the action on wheelingnailers.com or on the MIX 97.3 FM.

The Nailers return home this weekend to face the Johnstown Chiefs and Toledo Walleye. Saturday is Spike bobble head night. The first 1,000 kids 14 and under will receive a Spike bobble head courtesy of United Bank. Face-off is set for 7:35pm. Sunday the Nailers host the Walleye for the first time in team history.
