Toledo Walleye News Release

Toledo, OH - After a quick start to the game, the Walleye took the win at the home ice. The victory featured a quality scoring and excellent play on special teams to even the season series against the Florida Everblades.

Toledo came looking to bounce back from Sunday's shootout loss and did in a big way. The first period had Toledo on the penalty kill early, but that did not stop the offensive attack. Adam Hobson went on the breakaway and took a quick wrist shot, but it was stopped by goalie Mike Morrison. However, the rebound went to the right side, where Hobson was to collect it, and shot it in to the open net for his team leading ninth goal.

Toledo doubled the lead with an impressive goal by Maxime Tanguay later in the period. Tanguay got the puck from center ice and skated to the right side and used a teammate for a screen as he carried it into the Florida zone. He crashed to the center of the net, skated around two defenders, hesitated for the goalie to go down, and shot the puck over the diving netminder for the goal.

Chris Robertson scored in the second to make it 3-0 Toledo, which turned out to be the all important game-winner. Florida came out in the third period and attacked the net, scoring two goals to make a one goal contest. Colin Nicholson then Jordan Morrison scored 45 seconds apart, but the Walleye held on for the win. Goalie Alec Richards made 31 stops.
