Gladiators Acquire Bayrack

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have acquired Mike Bayrack from Stockton in exchange for future considerations. In six games with the Thunder this season, Bayrack has recorded four penalty minutes.

Bayrack, a 31-year-old Edmonton, Alberta native, began his professional career with the ECHL's Jackson Bandits in 1999 after four successful junior seasons in the Western Hockey League. He has spent time in the ECHL, the former United Hockey League, and has several stints in the American Hockey league, as well as a short time overseas.

Last season, Bayrack appeared in 60 games with the Charlotte Checkers, where he amassed 60 points on 21 goals and 39 assists and added 34 penalty minutes. He also chipped in seven points in six playoff games for the Checkers.

Bayrack should be available for Friday night's home game when the Gladiators take on the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:35 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Wednesday, December 2nd at Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
