Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators have again teamed up with Toys for Tots this year for two nights of toy collection on Friday, December 4th when they host the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:35 p.m. and Wednesday, December 9th when they take on the Trenton Devils at 7:05 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.
The Atlanta Toys for Tots campaign has kicked off the 2009 season and has already received more toy requests than last year's record-breaking year. With the economic downturn and unemployment rate of 10.1% in Georgia, Atlanta Toys for Tots has set a new goal of 900,000 toys serving 450,000 disadvantaged children in the Atlanta Metro Area. Gwinnett County alone has a goal of 158,000 toy donations.
All toy donations made at Gladiators games will remain in Gwinnett County. Every person that brings a new, unwrapped toy will receive a special raffle ticket to enter an exclusive random drawing for a host of fabulous prizes which will be drawn during the games, including the Grand Prize - a one-of-a-kind, team-autographed Gladiators/Toys For Tots limited edition jersey to be drawn from all entries on Dec. 10th.
This year's biggest toy need is for children under two years old and for girls aged 10-13. Individuals are asked to drop a new, unwrapped toy at one of the drop boxes that will be located in the lobby at The Arena at Gwinnett Center on these two nights. Financial donations are also accepted and can be sent to 2700 Ivy Mill Drive, Buford, GA 30519.
In addition to these two Gladiators games, toys are now being collected at all Publix, Toys R Us, UPS Stores and Walgreens locations. Toys can also be donated any Gwinnett County fire station.
Toys for Tots is a 501(c) 3 not for profit public charity with a 62 year tradition of being carried out by the United States Marine Corps Reserve and local citizens. All donations received by the Atlanta Toys for Tots are 100% tax deductible.
The Gwinnett Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
